Top Ten Tuesday| Ten Books I Meant to Read in 2018

Good morning lovelies and happy Tuesday! Today I’m coming back at you again with another installment of Top Ten Tuesday, a meme hosted by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she assigns a topic and we create a list based on that topic, then share it with all of you. 😊

This week the topic is: Top Ten Books I Meant to Read in 2018 But Didn’t Get to.

The easy answer for me is ALL OF THEM. Unless it was a poetry book or ACOFAS (review to come), I didn’t pick it up. However, I’ve been doing my research and watching “best of 2018” videos and I think I’ve come up with a nice list here, some of which are 2018 releases and others are books I just haven’t read yet. Are you ready to get pumped (for books you’ve probably already read)? 🙌🙌🙌 (I just discovered that you can do that on a PC now and I can’t stop, send help.)

The Cruel Prince – Holly Black
In case you missed my TTT from a couple weeks ago, or haven’t been the victim of my non-stop babbling of how much I need to read this book, I need to read this book. 😂😂 I’m trying to go in without knowing much/anything about it, but I can’t help reading or watching reviews. *sigh* I should just read it already.

Leah on the Offbeat – Becky Albertalli
At the beginning of 2016, I read Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and fell in love with Becky’s writing style and the way she makes her characters so relatable. I was living so far under a rock that I had no idea she’d released a sequel until one of my friends mentioned it. It’s currently checked out from the library and waiting for me to crack it open.

What If It’s Us – Adam Silvera & Becky Albertalli
I have no idea what this book is about, but I’ve heard good things and I want to read it because of the authors (although still haven’t read anything by Adam Silvera). I’m waiting oh-so-patiently on a copy from the library.

The Hazel Wood – Melissa Albert
I love fairytale retellings; they’ve become some of my favorite books and series that I’ve read. I’ve heard (and correct me if I’m wrong) that this world is based on Grimm fairy tales, but it’s even darker. Color me intrigued.

Tower of Dawn – Sarah J. Maas
I love going back to previous posts and reading about how excited I was for this book; I started reading this book last year but then lost all interesting in it (I just don’t like Chaol…sorry guys). Sooo instead, my friend gave me a rundown on all of the important stuff that happened. Guess what? I’m following along in Kingdom of Ash with no problem. The completionist in me will probably read it just so I can get to know those characters more but I’m not sure when I’ll get around to it.

A Conjuring of Light – V.E. Schwab
My backlist of reviews makes me so sad because A Gathering of Shadows is on that list and I really enjoyed it. That being said, I have no idea why I didn’t jump right into A Conjuring of Light and finish the trilogy.

Furyborn – Claire LeGrand
I’ve heard good things about her writing and this book looks like something I’d like to read. (That’s all I’ve got, haha). 🙈

Anything new by Christina Lauren
If you haven’t read my reviews of a couple of their other books, please do. I love their Beautiful series because it’s fun and it’s sexy (the audiobooks are so nice to listen to). I feel like all of a sudden they’re blowing up again, and I’m hearing about all of these books I should be reading (Roomies especially). Definitely need to put their books at the top of my TBR list.

The Language of Thorns – Leigh Bardugo
This is a book that I received in a subscription box and never read. Granted this is largely due to the fact that I already own and read the short stories that go with the Grisha trilogy. However, if I’m not mistaken there are a couple new stories that were thrown in there. I’m sure eventually I’ll get around to reading them? 🤷‍♀️

Strange the Dreamer – Laini Taylor
Last, but definitely not least, this book is yet another one that I received in a subscription box, have heard great things about, and still.haven’t.read. Is anyone else getting as frustrated with me as I am?

Honorable Mentions

  • The Afterlife of Holly Chase – Cynthia Hand
  • Renegades – Melissa Meyer
  • Ace of Shades – Amanda Foody

Do you have any that I don’t have on my list? If so, please share! If you’ve read any of these books, feel free to leave a link to your review if you have one. Also, feel free to leave a link to your own TTT post. 😀

Great list! I still haven’t finished Strange the Dreamer, so you’re not alone there, and I’d like to try and read What If It’s Us some time this year when I’m next in the mood for some contemporary. I enjoyed Leah on the Offbeat and LOVED The Upside of Unrequited so I recommend them both! 🙂
